I'm a 35-year-old journalist born and raised in Indiana. I've previously lived in Bloomington, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; and Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia. My full time job is in journalism. I do investigative reporting and write a weekly column for Reason magazine. I mostly write about crime and the criminal justice system. Bad cops and prosecutors. Wrongful convictions. What you might call the people-chewed-up-and-spit-out-by-the-system beat. I don't anticipate doing much of that sort of writing here, though I suppose it could happen now and then if a story hits close to home. If you're interested in those topics, check me out at Reason, or at my personal blog, TheAgitator.com.
My interests include music, history, architecture, photography, food and cooking, and sports (sorry new hometown, but I'm a Colts fan). I enjoy both high and low culture, sometimes simultaneously. (Except opera. I just can't get into opera.) I'm an unapologetic "dog" person. This is my adorable mutt, Daisy. I'm pretty sure there's some Australian Shepherd in her. Not sure what else. As of this writing, she's about a year-and-a-half old. Also as of this writing, she's snoring at my feet.
